This workshop is part basic anatomy, part asana. It’s an opportunity to gain clarity, insight and understanding about your body and it’s movements, informing your practice and teaching style with new depths of appreciation and inspiration.

The first half of the session will begin with an overview of skeletal variations, which acknowledges that every bone in every body is different and unique to each individual. Because of this, what is easy for one person may be impossible for another. Therefore, in this functional approach to yoga, there’s no such thing as a ‘perfect pose’. Every hand and foot position either helps or inhibits one’s ability to find stability and ease in any given pose.

Ahna will guide students in compression tests - which is where epiphanies happen. Instead of performing a pose from the outside to achieve the perfect shape, this approach strives to understand the physical benefits of the poses allowing practitioners to adapt and shift to access the best position for their body.

Anatomy info offered will be integrated into a yoga practice of exploration and insight.
